Fun and Games
Thought I’d check’n with my readers and say “hi”. I have been living a pretty busy lifestyle as of late and my sleep bank is paying for it. Two weekends ago I went to Washington D.C. to the National Easter Seals convention. It was about 300 folks from all over US, Canada, and Australia who are leaders/advocates for individuals with disabilities. I was expecting a standard conference but what I experienced was nothing short of a mixture of Hollywood production and a presidential ball. Even though the presenters were flashy and entertaining they still maintained a sincere and genuine message about Easter Seals and its services. I must say I was quite impressed… and in my old age I am getting harder and harder to impress. The end of the conference involved us getting trained on how to properly lobby congress, while the following day involved 300 of us assaulting Capital Hill to meet with our Reps in the house and senate. What a rewarding, educational, and yet very exhausting day. By the way friendly reader, I must say “thank you.” Thank you because you paid for my subsidized lunch the day I went to congress… under congress is the cafeteria in the basement. One side of the large facility is for staff and one is for guest. Because I can be such a tool, I was able to accidentally get into the staff side where my nice lunch was only a couple of dollars… unlike my peers who ate in the guest-visitor side and paid about $13 each. Anyhow, thanks for your tax dollars subsidizing my lunch.
This weekend I am off to see EVITA at the Baltimore Hippodrome. I’ll report back some day.
On a closing note…. thanks to my friends at the BBC they introduced me to the crazy article at about.com -Click here-All I could do is laugh in amazement. What do you think as an able bodied individual? My perspectives are a little warped at times.
